Rippers and Racers Camp (old)

“RIPPERS” Race Camp

Introduction to Alpine Ski Racing!

Our new Rippers Race Camp offers an introduction to alpine racing for kids ages 6-10 who want to explore the sport without the time and commitment of a full season of training. This will be a laid-back entry-level race camp where kids can learn the fundamentals of ski racing, offered by Cochran’s Ski Area in partnership with Cochran’s Ski Club. Activities include running ski courses and receiving tips and technique advice from our enthusiastic and experienced coaching staff as well as special activities! We require that child can ski independently on the handletow (AKA mighty mite)!

Our goal is to have your child complete the program as an improved skier (shall we say Ripper!), developing a lifelong love for skiing have an appreciation for ski racing, and some friends to ski with!

Weeks One to Four:
The program will begin on the mighty mite (beginner handle tow). During the first few weeks, Rippers will learn the basic skills needed to run through gates.
Weeks Four to Six:
The program will end on the T-bar. During the last two weeks, Rippers will take the skills they learned on the mighty-mite and apply them to more challenging terrain.

The program will wrap up with a family-friendly lollipop race and pancakes on Saturday February 13th.
